Monday afternoon class starts September 21 at Hudson Valley Writers' Center

Instructor: Mary Carroll Moore

Ready to go back to school? Recharge your writing with weekly accountability? Join us for a brand-new session of "How to Plan, Develop, and Write a Book," at the Hudson Valley Writers' Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY, starting in September.

Past attendees of this six-week class have said:

"My second time through--and I got even more out of it this time around."

"Material is tailored to the changing environment of what sells in publishing today. Great grounding in the real world."

"Excellent. I learned a ton of exactly what I was looking to learn."

"Mary is an incredible teacher--knowledgeable, approachable, passionate, patient."

"Changed everything I knew about writing (for the better)."

"Really opened my eyes to all aspects of book writing. I thoroughly enjoyed it."

Class meets six Monday afternoons, 1:30-4:30 p.m., starting September 21, and is limited to 14 participants. Fee is $355 for six weeks. Writers at any stage of book writing, whether beginner or advanced, and in any genre--memoir, novel, nonfiction, biography, children's and YA--are welcome to join us.

Sound like a good fit for your writing this fall? See the full description below. To hold your place, call the Writers' Center at 914-332-5953 or email Maureen Hatch at maureen@writerscenter.org. The Writers' Center is located on Riverside Dr in Sleepy Hollow near Tarrytown.

Whether you’re a nonfiction author, memoirist, or novelist, and whether you have a book almost finished or merely a concept for one, this six-week class will help you get to know your book—what it is about, how to structure it, how to finish it! You’ll learn a step-by-step plan (including timetables, chapter grids, story-boarding, and other techniques) and ways to flow chapters, find holes in your material that need filling, organize research and concepts, and construct plots. You’ll also learn how to package your book for agents and publishers and gain essential tips on editing and evaluating your book at all stages.
