Lisa Genova author of Still Alice is appearing in Watertown, CT

Lisa Genvova will be reading from her book Still Alice at The First Congregational Church in Watertown on Wednesday, October 14th at 7pm. For directions please click on the title of this blog.

My Fiction Bookclub and I read this book several months ago and we thought it was absolutely breathtaking. Important topic and done with astonishing skill. To date it remains the only book *all* of us loved.

Ready to go back to school? Recharge your writing with weekly accountability? Join us for a brand-new session of "How to Plan, Develop, and Write a Book," at the Hudson Valley Writers' Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY, starting in September.

Class meets six Monday afternoons, 1:30-4:30 p.m., starting September 21, and is limited to 14 participants. Fee is $355 for six weeks. Writers at any stage of book writing, whether beginner or advanced, and in any genre--memoir, novel, nonfiction, biography, children's and YA--are welcome to join us.

Whether you’re a nonfiction author, memoirist, or novelist, and whether you have a book almost finished or merely a concept for one, this six-week class will help you get to know your book—what it is about, how to structure it, how to finish it! You’ll learn a step-by-step plan (including timetables, chapter grids, story-boarding, and other techniques) and ways to flow chapters, find holes in your material that need filling, organize research and concepts, and construct plots. You’ll also learn how to package your book for agents and publishers and gain essential tips on editing and evaluating your book at all stages.
